We know that what we put on our skin is absorbed into our bodies, so we take your health and safety VERY seriously - in a fabulous Furless manner of course!
Beauty doesn't need to be harmful to your health, or the environment. The number one reason manufacturers put toxic ingredients into your cosmetics is cost.
Why pay three times as much for a quality ingredient, when you can use a cheap toxic one instead?
Why spend a few thousand dollars reformulating a product to take out the hormone disrupting parabens, when you can just change the labelling from parabens to Hydroxybenzoates? FYI, Hydroxybenzoates ARE Parabens. Yep, ridiculous but true.
99% of mineral makeup brands still use chromium oxide green which is known to cause cancer and birth defects, and a large amount of mineral makeup brands use Z Cote.
WHAT DO WE KNOW ABOUT Z COTE ZINC OXIDE?
We know that it is used as a sunscreen and in mineral makeup, and we know that it is transparent on the skin because it has been ground down to a particle size of less than 0.2 microns.
According to the friends of the earth, a particle size of less than 0.2 microns (200 nanometres - a nano particle is technically <100nm) can exhibit some of the novel nano-behaviours that relate to increased toxicity. We don't know enough about this new technology, so we are staying well away from it!
FURLESS CHOOSES TO FORMULATE PRODUCTS WITH THE SAFEST OF INGREDIENTS:
Zinc Oxide - An inorganic non-toxic compound used as a whitening pigment and sunscreen. Zinc Oxide has anti inflammatory properties.
Magnesium Stearate - The magnesium salt of stearic acid. Used for its adhesion and slip (how the makeup glides on the skin) properties.
Allantoin - An anti irritant organic compound used to soothe and protect. Allantoin has the ability to stimulate the growth of healthy tissue, and to help heal wounds and skin ulcers! That is why we have included it in all our mineral formulas!
Magnesium Myristate - The magnesium salt of myristic acid. Used to bind powders together and creates a creamier slip and feel.
Mica - A mineral that comes in layers of sheets. Used in foundation and eyeshadow to create a glowing, shimmer, or sparkling effect. Mica can be coated with titanium dioxide, iron oxides/ultramarines, manganese violet, dyes and lakes. We only use mica coated with safe pigments - no dyes or lakes, and no parabens.
Australian Organic Kaolin Clay - Clay mineral used as an absorbent and for adhesion.
Iron Oxides - Inorganic colour pigments.
Ultramarines - Inorganic colour pigments.
Rice Powder - A powder made from rice. Used as a slip and oil absorbing ingredient, and creates a silky look and feel. We love this powder!
Carnauba Wax (COPERNICIA CERIFERA) - A wax obtained from the carnauba palm.

TITANIUM DIOXIDE - A naturally occurring mineral used as a whitening pigment and sunscreen. Please note that inhalation of titanium dioxide is toxic and known to cause cancer - not to mention a lung irritant. Products like toothpaste, liquid foundation, sunblock and creams that contain titanium dioxide are safe, as they are not inhaled. We have not included titanium dioxide in our loose foundation powders.
FRAGRANCE FREE - Formulators can put as many toxins into a product as they want under the ingredient name "fragrance" due to trade secret laws. According to the Environmental Working Group's Skin Deep, fragrance is one of the top 5 allergens in the world!
PARABEN (HYDROXYBENZOATE) FREE - Endocrine (hormone) disruptor - mimic estrogen. Has been linked to breast cancer, and the feminisation of fish. Visit the David Suzuki Foundation, or check out this link: http://www.hormoneimbalanced.com/chemestro.html
SALICYLATE FREE - Allergies, Reyes Syndrome, Aspirin Sensitivity & Guaifenesin friendly. We don't include plant oils in our powders to reduce the risk of allergies.
GLUTEN FREE - Allergies.
CARMINE FREE - Derived from insects - can cause severe allergic reactions.
GRAPEFRUIT SEED EXTRACT - There is no such thing as a natural preservative system. Most grapefruit seed extract "preservatives" have been laced with parabens, triclosan, or other synthetic preservatives. Click here for more info.
GMO FREE - Bad news! Some types of grains have had pesticides "genetically implanted" into the grain, so they have their own defense system built in against insects. The problem is that bees are now cross pollinating from GMO crops to non-GMO crops. Once these pesticides are in our bees and our food chain, there is no turning back. We are staying away from soy and corn products for this very reason. Click here and here for more info.
SOY - Over 95% of soy is genetically modified! According to Dr Mercola, feeding your baby soy formula is the equivalent of five birth control pills' worth of estrogen every day! Let's not rub it on our skin.
NANO TECHNOLOGY FREE - According to Dr Samuel Epstein, the author of Toxic Beauty, using non-tested nano ingredients in cosmetics and skincare is criminal. These ultra tiny particles are small enough to travel up through your optic nerve and into your brain. These nano particles are also immune to our own bodies natural detox system - they are too small to filter out, and accumulate in our bodies!
1 nanometre is equal to one billionth of a metre. 1 micrometre is one millionth of a metre. A human hair is about 60,000 nanometers in diameter. Visit Friends of the Earth.
Watch out for nano ingredients in sunscreens, haircare, skincare and of course makeup. Look for words like "micro fine", "new micro technology", "micronised/micronized" - unfortunately companies are not required to say whether or not their products contain nano ingredients on their labels, so the best way to find out is to contact them and ask.

TALC FREE - Cancer concerns. Can cause coughing, vomiting, pneumonia in babies - has a similar composition to asbestos.
SILICA FREE - According to Dr Samuel Epstein, author of "Toxic Beauty" silica is a frank carcinogen.
MINERAL OIL, PARAFFIN, PETROLATUM FREE - "These petroleum products coat the skin like plastic - clogging pores and creating a build-up of toxins. LANOLIN FREE - Can be contaminated with Sheep Dip! Is also derived from sheep.
NUT WAX FREE - No allergy or anaphylactic causing nut ingredients.
MANGANESE VIOLET FREE - Toxic when inhaled, but has been approved for use on the lips. We will never use manganese violet in our powder products - look out for it in your eyeshadow and blush colours.
BISMUTH OXYCHLORIDE FREE - Can cause itching & allergies.
BORON NITRIDE FREE - Has not been tested for safety. Is absorbed by the mucous membranes & can cause central nervous system stimulation, skin rash, & gastrointestinal bleeding.
FERRIC FERROCYANIDE FREE - Toxic when ingested.
FREE FROM CHROMIUM OXIDE/HYDROXIDE GREENS - Known to cause birth defects & allergic reactions - pregnant women should watch out for it in foundations, and green eyeshadow. Inhalation can cause irritation & ulceration, & ingestion causes violent gastrointestinal irritation. Causes lung cancer, & can develop twenty to thirty years after exsposure.
FREE FROM FD&C and D&C COLOURS - Contain heavy metal salts. "Widely used FD&C and D&C colors are coal-tar (bituminous coal) derivatives that are continuously tested on animals due to their carcinogenic properties". PETA 2010

- Store your makeup in a cool dry place below 27 degrees
- Discontinue use if irritation occurs
- Keep your powders dry - Don't dip a wet brush into your dry powder. Bacteria grows in moist environments
- Although we don't include nut ingredients in our formulas, we can't guarantee there won't be any traces of nuts found
